The Academy of Music offers summer camps for children aged 6 to 16 years. Whether your kids want to play in a rock band, learn dance, piano, and vocal in the same camp, or play in a celtic orchestra we have the camp just for them.
Note: All camps are from 9:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday. Optional before and after care is available to all students.

Explore the fundamentals of ballet, jazz, and hip hop dance as well as piano, vocal, and basic music theory all in one fun filled week.
Students will:
- Learn the basics of ballet, jazz, and hip hop dance
- Help create their own routines
- Take group piano lessons, vocal choir, and theory classes
- Gain a new understanding of how music and dance are connected
- Do a fun new craft every day
- Excersise their bodies, and minds
- Play, sing, and dance at the final recital

Rock Band Summer Camp
For Ages 8 to 16 Years
July 16 - 20, 2012
Learn how to play in real rock band! This one week rock band camp for guitar, drums, keyboard, and vocal lis designed for kids that really want to learn about rock music and how all the instruments fit together to make make that awesome sound.
Students will:
- Learn at least 6 rock songs with a band
- Students will get to play all the instruments
- Work on basic rock improvising (soloing) with the most popular blues and rock chord progressions
- Explore how rock music evolved to become what it is today
- Perform their songs live and get a free DVD of their show
- Do a fun new craft every day, older kids can help the younger ones if they wish
- Work with instructors that not only play rock but have been teaching kid's rock band programs for more than 15 years

Celtic Orchestra Camp
For Ages 8 to 88
July 9 - 13, 2012
Play violin, fiddle, piano, or guitar? Join us for a one week fiddle camp and learn how to play the same popular tunes that artists like Natalie MacMaster and Ashley MacIsaac play.
Students will:
- Learn a variety of Scottish, Irish, and Cape Breton tunes
- Learn how to tell the difference between types of traditional tunes like jigs, reels, and waltzes
- At least 2 extra Celtic Clinics with special guests
- Work on playing by ear and with sheet music
- Enhance their private lessons
- Work with the music director for the Oakville Celtic Fiddle Club
- Observe performances and clinics from members of the Oakville Celtic Fiddle Club
- Perform with the Orchestra at the end of the week

All Camp Details:
-Students must bring their own peanut free lunch, snacks, and drinks
-All camps are subject to a $25 non-refundable registration fee
-Withdrawals will not be accepted after May 1, 2012
-Before and after camp care is available from 7:30am until 5:30pm
-The Academy of Music will not tolerate bad behavior. All issues will result in phone call home, 3 phone calls may result in the immediate dismissal from the camp with no refund.
-Morning care - $10 per day
-Afternoon care - $10 per day
-Both - $20 per day
