We offer a wide variety of drum lessons or percussion classes. Most of our
students learn on a drum kit. We have both male and female students and usually start drum lessons at age 8 and older as students need to be able
to reach both the pedal and the cymbals. We do have some younger students but
suggest they come in for a trial drum lesson to see if they are big enough to
get started. Drum lessons are taught on a drum kit in our studios but students
are able to get started practicing at home on practice pads before purchasing or
renting a drum kit. Our drums lessons stress proper technique and music reading so students become
good drummers quickly. Private drum lessons are available in 30 minute and 1 hour lengths.
In addition to learning what they really want in their drum lessons, our
students will also learn how to read drum music (a major asset when it comes to
school bands) participate in optional drum exams, and learn how to improvise on
the drums. All drum lessons at the Academy incorporate a wide variety of musical
styles which will help them develop an appreciation for both old, and new drum
music.
Our drum students get even more out of their lessons by participating in rock/pop bands.

Rock and Pop Band
Series
For students of all instruments, levels, and
ages!
Learning to play together as a team, mastering your part, putting it all
together as a stage performance, learning about basic styles and forms is
covered each week. Basic music theory concepts are also taught using examples
from the songs the bands are playing. Students move ahead in their skill levels
at their own pace, and the teacher assigns parts appropriate for each band
member. Rock 'n Roll (classic and contemporary), pop, and familiar classics.
